My name is Joseph C Purcell.  I was then known as Joe, and I was stationed at Herzo from Aug’64 to May or Jun ’66.  When I was there, Lee K. Stikeleather was the SMaj., and Lt.Col McFadden was the CO.  My OIC was Mr. Al Gebben,W4, and my NCOIC was a Sgt. Staples.  I worked in the finance office which was the building on the left just inside the front gate.  I lived in Headquarters Co.
down in the beautiful street that ran thru base. In May of '66, I received a direct commisssion to 2nd Lt., but dtayed at base for another week, before being transferred to Frankfurt and the 28th Base Post Office. I had red hair and was the classical pianist of the post. You may not remember me, but I would like to hear from you.
 My email is jpur@mindspring.com
